Lynching victims memorial gathering June 10th

There will be a memorial gathering for the victims who were lynched on June 10, 1882, in Lawrence--Isaac King, George Robertson, and Peter Vinegar-- and Margaret Vinegar, who barely escaped being lynched but was later denied justice by the court, at 6:00 p.m. Monday, June 10th on the hillside below Potters Field in Oak Hill Cemetery, the location where the three men are buried.

The cemetery entrance is just east of the intersection of Oak Hill Avenue and Elmwood Street.  Follow the winding roads through the cemetery east to the hillside at the northeast corner of the cemetery.  Corner posts for Potters Field have recently been installed delineating the extent of the area.

No seating will be provided so bring lawn chairs if desired.  Rain or shine.
